Darkness

Darkness

I woke up with a start from a horrifying dream.

I woke up sweating even with air conditioning,

I looked about and squinting to see around,

I couldn’t see anything around.

It was dark and I was enveloped by darkness.

I reached to the side to switch on a lamp,

To my utter dismay the power was out.

As a child and even till date I’m afraid of the dark,

I feel cold, alone and sorrow.

I’m enveloped in fear that my muscles don’t twitch,

I’m afraid and alone when swallowed by darkness.

And my body tenses and my mind cannot think.

Fear is the key, fear is everything for me

Fear is darkness and Fear is deep.
